Fall 2021 Services

The Writing Center continues to operate virtually during the fall 2021 semester due to COVID-19 concerns. All scheduled tutoring sessions, drop-in sessions via live chat, and workshop sessions will be conducted online. Please review information regarding our online services, which we are continuing to expand. Refer to our FAQs for more detailed information.

New Users—Register and Activate an Account

If you are new to the SJSU Writing Center, register for an account by clicking the link to the left. You are required to register using your SJSU email address ( Once you have registered, you should check your SJSU email (including Spam/Junk folders) for the activation email. Once the activation link has been actioned, your account will be ready for use.


Scheduling an Appointment

Please refer to our policies and procedures, which explain the expectations for tutoring support.

Once you have registered, you can use WCOnline to schedule a tutoring session (or workshop).

  • Log in using your SJSU email and WCOnline password.
  • Select the Online Tutoring (or Workshops) schedule from the dropdown menu.
  • Look for available WHITE squares that match your availability.
  • Click on the WHITE square and complete the appointment form.

Appointments during the fall semester are in high demand; therefore, it is strongly recommended to book in advance if you think you need writing support.


Joining Your Appointment (or Workshop)

To join your appointment (or workshop), log in to your WCOnline account and follow the instructions provided at the top of the schedule. You can also refer to the email confirmation that was sent at the time of booking your appointment or workshop.


Canceling an Appointment

If you need to cancel a tutoring session, please do so in advance online (through this appointment reservation system).


Live Chat (Ask a Tutor)

If there are no online tutoring appointments available at your preferred times, you can get support from the live chat, Ask a Tutor, service. More information is available by clicking here


Online Resources

For out-of-hours support, the Homegrown Handouts, video tutorials, and downloadable resources on our website are available to all SJSU students for easy, remote access at any time.
